Our editorial mission

Three commitments shape everything we publish. First, calm: scores and stories should not bury the user in pop-ups or trending lists. Second, named writers: every editorial piece carries a byline and a last-updated timestamp; anonymous content has no place in a sports newsroom. Third, transparency about what we don't know: when a feed disagrees with a broadcaster, we publish the discrepancy; when we get something wrong, we publish the correction at the top of the same piece within 24 hours. A fourth, quieter commitment: the editorial desk is allowed to disagree with the marketing and growth teams. Most of the time the disagreement is about a homepage layout or a notification cadence, and the resolution is logged in the weekly editorial review. The rule is that no commercial pressure can override an editorial decision — and we publish the editorial decisions in the open ledger on this page once a quarter.

The team

The editorial desk is led by Devansh Iyer (cricket, 12 years covering the Indian game), Priya Nair (football, with a permanent column on Indian football), Anita Desai (kabaddi and ISL football, eight seasons on the Pro Kabaddi beat), and Karthik Rao (tennis, ATP/WTA, doubles tour). The platform team behind the app is based in Bengaluru and ships a release every fortnight. The grievance officer under the IT Rules 2021 is named in the in-app settings and on the contact page. The data protection contact under the DPDP Act 2023 is [email protected]. Both are reachable during business hours, with a 24-hour acknowledgment window.

Working principles

We don't paraphrase third-party commentary — quotes are always linked back to the original publisher. We don't run sponsored editorial content on the sports desks. We don't moderate store reviews. We don't ship new features in a release that we wouldn't use ourselves. The full set of editorial principles is published at our review page. A principle that surprises some readers: we don't link to live video streams we don't have rights to. Re-streaming is the wrong side of the rights contract; the official broadcaster's stream lives on the broadcaster's app. We link out, not embed.

Corrections and standards

A correction is published at the top of any piece where we got something materially wrong — a wrong score in a chart, a misattributed quote, a wrong venue, an inaccurate squad announcement. The correction carries a date stamp and explains what changed. We don't silently edit published work; every revision is in the piece's revision log. Suggestions and corrections can be sent to the editorial desk via the in-app report flow or via the contact form at sportsaddaapp.com/contact/. A note on the line between an editorial correction and an update: an editorial correction means the original publication was wrong. An update means something has changed since publication (a squad was announced, a fixture was rescheduled). Both are timestamped; only the correction is a retraction.

How we are funded

SportsAdda is funded by a small group of Indian angel investors and the revenue from the affiliate programme that links to the partner sportsbook operator. The editorial desk has a fixed annual budget that is independent of affiliate revenue, and the budget is approved by a board that includes one independent journalist. We do not run sponsored editorial content on the sports desks. We do not accept payment to mention a team, a player, or a brand in an editorial piece. We do not run paid links. Where a piece of editorial content includes a product mention, the mention is at the editorial desk's discretion and is not paid for.
