Install and account

The most-asked install questions, answered plainly. If your question is about the partner operator's product (the link you find via the "PLAY NOW" CTA), those go to the partner — not to us. A common confusion: SportsAdda is not a real-money gaming app. The app has no wallet, no deposits, no in-app purchases, and no fantasy contests. The affiliate link in the header and footer is to a third-party operator; that operator runs under its own licences and grievance process. The two are deliberately separate products.

Is SportsAdda free to install?

Yes — the app is free on Google Play and the App Store. There are no paid tiers, no in-app purchases, and no premium features behind a paywall.

Does it work without an account?

You can browse scores and read every editorial story without creating one. An account is only needed to save favourite teams across devices and to receive personalised alerts.

Which Android version do I need?

Android 9 (API 28) or newer. Recommended: Android 12 or newer for the live activity widget.

Which iOS version do I need?

iOS 14 or newer. iPad split-view and Stage Manager are supported on iPadOS 16 and newer.

Why can't I find the app in the Play Store?

Either your device is below Android 9, or your region's Play Store is restricted. The APK mirror at /download/ is the alternative — it's the same build, signed by the same key.

Live scores and data sources

Where the scores come from, how often they update, and what happens when a feed disagrees with the broadcaster.

Where do live scores come from?

Direct feeds from BCCI for cricket, AIFF and league partners for football, Pro Kabaddi League for kabaddi, and ATP/WTA endpoints for tennis. Cross-checked every 30 seconds against the broadcaster's on-screen graphic.

How fast are the updates?

Typically under 10 seconds from a new ball being bowled, and under 5 seconds for goal / super-raid / set-point events.

Can I report a wrong score?

Yes — tap the match card → "Report a score". Our editorial desk reviews each submission within five minutes during live play.

Why does the app sometimes show a score that's behind the broadcaster?

The app reconciles the league feed with the broadcaster's graphic every 30 seconds. The league feed wins; the editorial desk writes a short note on the match page when the two disagree. This is the right trade-off in our judgement, but it does mean the app is sometimes 5-10 seconds behind the broadcast graphic.

Alerts and notifications

How alerts work, how to scope them per team, and what we never send.

How do I turn on wicket alerts?

Open the app → Settings → Alerts → Cricket → Wicket. Toggle on the teams you want alerts for.

Do you ever send marketing push notifications?

No. We don't send alerts for squad announcements, transfer rumours, pre-match hype, broadcaster promos, or re-engagement pushes. The only push notifications are match-event alerts you opted into.

Can I set a quiet window?

Yes. Settings → Alerts → Quiet hours. Pick a per-day start and end time. The window overlays on top of Do Not Disturb — inside the window, alerts are delivered to the tray but don't vibrate or light up the screen.

Privacy and account deletion

What we collect, what we never touch, and how to delete your account.

What data do you collect?

Team selections (stored locally), notification preferences (stored locally), reading history (stored locally, deletable), and optional crash logs (opt-in, anonymous). Full list in our privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

Open the app → Settings → Account → Delete account. All associated data is purged within 24 hours. A confirmation email is sent before the deletion starts.

Do you sell my data?

No. SportsAdda does not sell, share, or rent user data. There is no advertising SDK in the app.

Editorial standards

How the editorial desk operates, who writes the pieces, and how corrections work.

Who writes the editorial pieces?

Named staff writers per beat — Devansh Iyer (cricket), Priya Nair (football), Anita Desai (kabaddi and Indian football), Karthik Rao (tennis). All pieces carry a byline and a last-updated timestamp.

How do corrections work?

If we get something wrong, the correction is published at the top of the same piece within 24 hours and dated. We don't silently edit — every published version is in the revision log.

Do you accept story pitches?

From staff writers only. The editorial desk does not currently accept freelance pitches; the in-house roster covers the four beats in full.
