Privacy policy — what we collect, what we never request.

Data we collect

SportsAdda collects the minimum data needed to run a scores app. Team selections, notification preferences and reading history are stored in encrypted local storage on your device. Optional phone-based sign-in stores a hashed phone number and a session token on our backend. Crash logs are anonymous and off by default; you can opt in from Settings → Help → Send crash reports. Live match data — current scores, schedule, fixtures — comes from official league feeds (BCCI, AIFF, PKL, ATP, WTA). We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone input, your calendar, your SMS history, or any advertising identifier. The app requests no permission it does not actively use.

Third-party services

Two third-party processors handle data on our behalf: an analytics provider that aggregates anonymised usage events (you can opt out in Settings → Privacy), and a push-notification provider (FCM on Android, APNs on iOS) that delivers the alerts you opted into. Both are bound by data-processing agreements consistent with the DPDP Act, 2023. We do not use third-party advertising networks. We do not integrate social-login SDKs (the sign-in flow is phone-OTP only). We do not share data with data brokers or marketing partners. The full list of subprocessors is in the in-app settings and is updated within 30 days of any change. If we ever integrate a new subprocessor — for example, a payment processor for a future premium feature — we will publish the integration in the in-app changelog 30 days before it ships, and give you the option to delete your data before the integration goes live.

Retention

Local data stays on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data from system settings. Backend data is retained only as long as the account is active; deleting your account purges all server-side records within 24 hours. Aggregated, fully anonymised analytics may be retained longer — never at the per-user level. Reading history on the device rotates every 30 days; the oldest 7 days are dropped on the same schedule. If you delete a specific piece from your history manually, that record is purged immediately.

Your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to: (a) access the personal data we hold about you, (b) correct inaccurate data, (c) request erasure of your data, (d) nominate another individual to exercise your rights in case of incapacity, and (e) file a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India. To exercise any of these, write to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days, per the Act. We do not sell personal data. We do not engage in profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not transfer personal data outside India for processing; the small amount of operational telemetry we generate is stored on India-region infrastructure.

Children's privacy

SportsAdda is rated 18+ on the store listings. The app is not designed for, marketed to, or intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we discover that a user under 18 has created an account, we delete the account and all associated data within seven days. If you believe a child under 18 has created a SportsAdda account, write to [email protected] and we will investigate and respond within seven days.

Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy are announced in the in-app changelog at least 14 days before they take effect, and a summary of the change is published on this page with the change-log date. Non-material changes (typo fixes, link updates, formatting) are made silently with no announcement. The current version was published at the start of the current calendar quarter; the previous version is in the privacy archive.
